  • In the days when flour for the household was bought in 50 pound sacks the home maker had to have supply of rising agents like baking powder, baking soda, and yeast.  In camp situations baking powder becomes even more important because the best biscuits are made with it.

This packaging of a period brand represents a the kind of packing for  powder and granular products such as salt, cleaning powder, etc. that was prevalent befor the first medtallic pour spout was invented in 1923. Both the top and bottom caps of the box are removable. The top cap allows one to pour the contents out through a spout cut in the top, and keeps the contents from leaking out.

We've added a feature the originals didn't have: a removable bottom cap. This is done so that the user can fill the box with the labeled contents. The user can then seal the bottom cap to use the authentically or leave it removable for repeated use.

The caps do fit tightly, but I always recommend that all food containers whether metal, glass, or cardboard, be put in cloth stuff sacks for both organization and guard against leakage getting into the other contents of your pack or chuck box during travel.
